House Tour Part 2: Wickham's Room

So I have big plans for this room....but I'm sure by the time I get around to it he will be 16 and he will no longer want his mama to decorate his room. We went ahead and painted it the same gray that we used in the rest of the house because we had quite a bit left. It's by Sherwin Williams called "Grayish". I'm glad we did it because I'm sure I will want to change things around eventually and it is a great neutral background. I bought his bed from habitat for humanity and painted it white...although he tells me all the time he needs a bunk bed. My sister in law Piper made his bedspread...and did such a great job! The fabric is from Jo Annes. The pillows are a modge podge of target, ikea, k-mart, and tj maxx. Ben found the light in his room while at work...I think someone was throwing it away or it was in an old warehouse or something. I want to re-paint it white and then paint something on it....We didn't know what to do with our old entertainment center so I'm using it his room to store his toys...want to repaint that too....or sell it...
We had to make the room smaller when we built the stairs...but he still has tons of space to play in there, make big messes....and someday make room for a sibling :)
The last picture is of his fort....the stairs are next to his room....so when we built his closet we let the space under the stairs be a place for him to hide and play. He loves it!

House Tour Part One: Master Bedroom

Well, first of all, we are IN OUR HOUSE. Second, WE ARE SO HAPPY! We love our little house out in the country, and we have the best neighbors...you know...the kind that bring you homemade chicken salad and tomatoes from their garden. Miss Louise, our next door neighbor feeds Wickham lemonade and cookies when we go to visit or take her something we made. It's like a dream. Our only complaint is that there isn't a Starbucks within a 5 mile radius...but we are getting plenty of use out of the french press. Sometimes, we are driving home, and Ben says, "Can you believe we are driving...home?" It's so nice to be here and not be working. Mornings where we (Theo included) all pile up in the bed and just hang out... is my idea of heaven right now. Wickham is so happy here and that just makes it all so worth it to us. Today, my mom brought him home after he had stayed with her for a few days. He walked up to the door, sighed, smiled, and said, "my house".

I'm going to give you guys a tour room by room...because I take too many pictures to put them on at once....but stay tuned for the next room! Keep in mind that we still aren't completely done with the house...our crown molding isn't up....the kitchen floor isn't done...etc...but we are taking a much needed break now that what HAS to be done is done. :)

So Ben made me the headboard for my Christmas present last year. I love that he builds me things. He used old doors and then used milk paint to make it the shade of purple I had mentioned that I liked. He so hit the nail on the head with the color. The light fixture in our room is from Ikea. I pitched a hissy fit for it. The curtains are also Ikea. Clearance-$1.00 a piece. Wish I had bought more. The bedding is target...pillows were a sweet gift from a friend. My sister bought me the fur throw and it's the softest thing ever. Vintage sheets/pillowcases were from Grandma...old sheets are the best...they don't make them the same anymore! The chair was Ben's great uncle's. When he passed, and they were going through his things...no one wanted that chair..but Grandma knew I would want it and brought it back for me all the way from Florida.
The last picture is a view of our bathroom from the bedroom. The bin that the towels are in is from Dollar General.

We are on the homestretch people! Yesterday we put our washer and dryer in their spot and I almost cried. Alot of small things are left to finish, like caulking and some patching here and there....but the biggest project left is the floor. The most recent thing we have done is put subway tiling in the bathroom. I LOVE IT. Ben did such a great job. Have I said that I'm proud of him? :)
Here are a few pictures to show you what's goin on over at the boondock bungalow

Wick's fort hidden in his closet

Our tile floors Amy and Jon did for us! They look soooo good!
